Mehmet Ali Işık, Head of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association, reported that Türkiye’s seedless raisin yield decreased by 22 percent to 246 thousand tonnes in the 2023/24 season.
Mehmet Ali Işık noted that despite the 22 percent decrease in the seedless raisin yield, they ramped up the average export price by 29 percent, thus aiming to exceed 200 thousand tonnes in seedless raisin exports and 500 million dollars in foreign currency earnings at the end of the 2023/24 season.
Explaining that Türkiye has made great investments in viticulture in the last 30 years, Işık said, “The vineyard areas in the country have reached 1 million 150 thousand decares. Our seedless raisin yield has reached 300 thousand tonnes from 100 thousand tonnes. We achieved this success by acting jointly with our Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, exporters, producers, universities and research institutes.”
“We have the power to maintain our leadership by applying modern production techniques by taking into account climate change in seedless raisins, which the World Food Organisation includes among healthy foods. By maintaining the level of our average export price, we can reach 750 million dollars in raisin exports in the medium term,” Işık added…
