The cereals, pulses and oilseeds sector, which carries out 48 per cent of Türkiye’s food products exports alone, left the year 2023 behind at an export level of 12.3 billion dollars.

Muhammet Öztürk, Chair of the Aegean Grains, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association, stated that while the grains, pulses and oilseeds sector exported 12.3 billion dollars in Türkiye in 2023, as the Aegean grains, pulses and oilseeds sector, they exported 1 billion 68 million dollars in 2023.
Highlighting that in 2023, they have added 68 million dollars on top of it by consolidating their place at the level of 1 billion dollars, which they reached with an increase of 47 percent in 2022, he said, ” The contribution of each sector to exports is great. Our vegetable oil exporters made 44 dollars of every 100 dollars of exports made by our association last year.”
Pointing out that Meals and Animal Feeds sector, which continues to grow with a high momentum, reached a volume of 162 million dollars with a spike of 32 per cent this year, he added, “This year, we experienced record growth in our cereals sub-sector, our cereals exports soared almost 7 times compared to last year and reached 93 million dollars in 2023. In chocolate confectionery products, one of our subgroups that have achieved remarkable growth in recent years, we reached a serious export figure of 83 million dollars with an increase of 74 per cent. Products made from cereals, which reached 50 million dollars with a rise of 38 per cent, were recorded as another developing sub-sector.”
