The Turkish flour industry, which is preparing to carry the export leadership it has achieved in the global market in the last 10 years to machinery production, aims to overtake China and become the leader in this field. On the flour side, the sector, which expects wheat production to surge, wants to utilise idle capacity and use the driving force of exports. Machinery manufacturers, which exported 4.2 billion dollars in 2023, are targeting 5 billion dollars this year.
The Turkish flour industry, which has been the global export leader for the last 10 years, ramps up the amount and value of exports every year. The sector, which broke the highest export record of all time last year with over 3.6 million tonnes of exports, achieved an increase of approximately 20 percent compared to the previous year. The sector had closed the 2023 season with exports of over 1.5 billion dollars.
5 billion dollars of exports on the horizon on the machinery side…
The other strong point of the industry is related to machinery production. The sector ranks second in the world after China.
According to the data shared by the Association of Mill and Sector Machinery Manufacturers (DESMÜD), mill and sector machinery manufacturers exported approximately 4.2 billion dollars in 2023. This year, 5 billion dollars is on the horizon.
As of today, machinery exports are made to 169 countries including the USA, Canada, Europe, Latin America, Africa, Russia, Turkic Republics, Middle East and Far East countries. Türkiye’s flour industry stands out in the market with its flour production and capacity, as well as machinery production for this field. Milling and sector machinery reach international markets through IDMA Fair, which is organised in Türkiye every two years and in a different country every year.
