Nicosia Turkish Municipality (LTB) Mayor Mehmet Harmancı announced that they will support citrus producers with temporary purchases until the export process is paved.
Making a statement on his social media account, LTB Mayor Mehmet Harmancı said, “The fact that a test that can be accepted by the world that can be measured in an independent laboratory in Türkiye has not been carried out until today is a very serious executive weakness.” Harmancı also said that the producer and production should not be lost.
“It is inconceivable that citrus and citrus producers have come to this point. It is not too late for this test to be realised, the button should be pressed for this today. There are countries outside the EU ready to buy citrus fruits,” he noted.
“As the Turkish Municipality of Nicosia, we are ready to support our producers with temporary purchases until this export process opens the way. I am sure other municipalities are also ready to contribute to this. We should not lose our producers and production,” he added…
