In the exports of Turkish salmon grown in the Black Sea in January and February of this year, a spike of 289 per cent compared to the same period last year, an increase of 70 thousand 614 dollars in foreign currency inflow was achieved, while this figure was recorded as a record hike above Türkiye’s average.
Ahmet Hamdi Gürdoğan, Deputy President of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), said that they have achieved a good momentum in the export of Black Sea Salmon in recent years.
Stating that especially Far Eastern countries prefer the Black Sea salmon that stays in the sea for 7 months, Gürdoğan said, “Japan and Far Eastern countries especially prefer the salmon grown in the Black Sea, which stays in the sea for 7 months. In the January-February period of this year, there is an amount of 70 million 614 thousand dollars in salmon exports. This corresponds to 13 thousand tonnes on quantity basis. When we look at the quantity basis, we see that it soared by 289 per cent and when we look at the number basis, we see that it increased by 164 per cent.”
“This is a record spike above Türkiye’s average; 64 per cent of this figure was provided from the Eastern Black Sea Region. Salmon exports, especially the Far East countries Japan, China, Korea, Vietnam, Russia, European Union countries, now we have just started to send to the USA,” he added…
