Ferhat Gürüz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, announced that Türkiye’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports reached 963.4 million dollars in the first quarter of the year. Stating that the Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable sector achieved an export increase of 3 percent between January and March 2024, Gürüz also reported that the countries with the highest values in this period were Russia, Iraq and Romania.
Pointing out that as the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, they reached 475.8 million dollars with a hike of 8 percent in the first quarter of the year, Gürüz said, “We had a 49 percent share of the country’s overall sector exports.”

Evaluating the export performance of the Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable sector in the first quarter of the year according to product groups and countries, Gürüz explained, “Our sector, which exported 277 million 461 thousand dollars in March, reached 963 million 431 thousand dollars in the first quarter of the year. The most exported products of our sector, which appraised 1 million 382 thousand tonnes of products in international markets between January and March, were tangerines, tomatoes and lemons. In this period, we exported 227.4 million dollars of tangerines, 167 million dollars of tomatoes and 108 million dollars of lemons.”
“In the first quarter of the year, our biggest markets in our fresh fruit and vegetable exports were Russia, Iraq and Romania. We exported 216.9 million dollars to Russia, 108.1 million dollars to Iraq and 93.7 million dollars to Romania. In the said period, we achieved the strongest spikes in export volume in Iraq, Syria, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Georgia markets. We succeeded in boosting our exports to Iraq by 346 percent,” Gürüz added…
