HAPPY COTTON PRODUCTION PROJECT IN AZERBAIJAN…

Ege (Aegean) University will consult with the “Happy Cotton Production Project in Azerbaijan”

İZMİR (Ege Agency) – Ege University Faculty of Agriculture will take part as a consultant with the accumulation of knowledge in the project “Happy Cotton Production in Azerbaijan with the Innovative Plant Health Integrated Program”. Professor Ferit Turanlı, Ege University Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Plant Protection Lecturer, will be consulting with the project to be carried out between AGROBEST Group and Azerbaijan Ministry of Agriculture, AZER PAMBIK ASK LLC Company and GBR-TRADE LLC Company.

Expressing that the project aims to further develop the friendship and trade ties between the two countries by contributing to the improvement in Azerbaijani cotton production, Ege University Rector Professor Necdet Budak said, “Within the scope of the project, the dimension of Ege University-industry cooperation will be expanded to include official and commercial institutions abroad. In friendly and sister countries, we will announce our country’s name on consultancy and project activity in agricultural production. I congratulate our consultant who took part in this important study and wish him continued success.”

Providing information about the details of the project, Dr. Ferit Turanlı said, “The project aims to support cotton production and increase productivity in sister country Azerbaijan. It is targeted to identify pests on cotton, to determine population levels and trends and to create programs to combat them when necessary. Within the scope of the project, the data that AGROBEST GROUP employees will obtain from the Azerbaijani cotton production areas will be evaluated and if necessary, on-site visits and observations will be made and pest control programs will be created. It will be ensured that the pest control programmes will be nature-friendly, without unnecessary spraying and aiming to produce a residue-free and clean cotton.”

Professor Dr. Turanlı stated that this model to be created will be applied in other products as well and the use of data and experiences to be obtained in the scope of the study in scientific publications is also planned.
