The 65th Agricultural Chemical Analysis Subgroup Meeting of the Cooperation Centre for Scientific Research Relative to Tobacco (Centre de Coopération pour les Recherches Scientifiques Relatives au Tabac), hosted by the Aegean Tobacco Exporters Association (ETİB) and held at the Izmir Chamber of Commerce, brought together scientists, researchers, tobacco industry representatives and agricultural chemical companies from 17 different countries in Izmir, the heart of Turkish tobacco.

The event, which was held for the 64th time last year in Belgrade, Serbia, was successfully completed this year under the hosting of Türkiye.
Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Selim Jimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aegean Tobacco Exporters Association, emphasized that tobacco is not only a commercial product for Türkiye, but also a deeply rooted value ingrained in the social and economic fabric of the country.

Stating that the Aegean region’s climate and soil give life to the world’s highest quality oriental tobaccos, Selim Jimi said, “The lasting reputation in the global market is only possible with a continuous commitment to quality, safety and regulatory excellence.”
Jimi also noted that accurate and standardized agricultural chemical testing is the strongest shield against regulatory risks in the dynamic global market, highlighting the importance of the synergy created by the local scientific ecosystem and global standards.
