Ferhat Gürüz: Türkiye’s export of fresh fruit and vegetables in November close to 400 million dollars

Ferhat Gürüz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, announced that Türkiye’s export of fresh fruits and vegetables in November reached 396.3 million dollars with an increase of 12 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Stating that the sector exported the most tangerines, tomatoes and lemons in November, Ferhat Gürüz also reported that they reached the highest values in the Russian, Iraqi and Ukrainian markets, while supporting the exports of the sector by 47 per cent by exporting 185 million dollars in the said period as Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association.

Evaluating Türkiye’s exports in November according to product groups and countries, Gürüz said: “As the Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable sector, we transformed 576 thousand 915 tonnes of products into value in the 11th month of the year. Tangerine, tomato and lemon took the first three places in the product groups we exported the most. We exported 130 million dollars worth of tangerines with an increase of 19 percent, 46.7 million dollars worth of tomatoes with an increase of 81 percent and 46.4 million dollars worth of lemons with an increase of 22 percent.”

“In the list of countries where we exported the most fresh fruit and vegetables, Russia ranked first with a value of 115.9 million dollars, Iraq ranked second with a value of 50.9 million dollars and Ukraine ranked third with a value of 31.4 million dollars. When we look at the markets where we ramped up the export volume in November, Iraq was the leader with a rise of 372 percent, followed by Georgia with a rise of 149 percent and a value of 2.9 million dollars and Canada with a rise of 132 percent and a value of 4 million dollars. We also achieved significant hikes in Poland, the United Kingdom and Romania markets,” Gürüz added…
