Davut Er: We aim to reach 1.5 billion dollars as olive oil sector

Olive oil sector’s target is 1.5 billion dollars export!

Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association (EZZİB), the only umbrella organisation of olive and olive oil exporters in Türkiye, gathered for the Financial General Assembly for 2023. At the General Assembly of EZZİB, the topics on the agenda of the sector were discussed.

Davut Er, Head of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association, stated that they broke a record in the 2022/23 season, reaching the highest export figures in the history of the sector.

“Our table olive exports soared by 7 percent on an amount basis compared to the previous season, rising from 172 million dollars to 184 million dollars. In the 2022/23 olive oil export season, which started on 1 November, we exported to 118 countries, our total olive oil exports rose by 158 percent in quantity from 58 thousand tonnes to 150 thousand tonnes and by 259 percent in amount from 201 million dollars to 723 million dollars,” he said.

Highlighting that in the 2022/23 export season, in which they became the world leader in table olive production and the second largest producer after Spain in olive oil, he added, “With the success we achieved with the record in production, our total sector exports reached 947 million dollars and our sector gained a very important momentum in the world markets. I would like to sincerely congratulate all our members who contributed to this spike and thank them for their contribution to our industry, despite the bulk and barrel export restrictions imposed at the end of July. We aim to boost this figure to 1.5 billion dollars in the next few years and to 2 billion dollars in 2028.”
