Türkiye’s annual waste amount reached 110 million tonnes!
The amount of waste generated in manufacturing industry workplaces, mining enterprises, thermal power plants, OIZs and households in Türkiye increased from 104.7 million tonnes in 2020 to 109.2 million tonnes in 2022. In the same period, the amount of waste generated by the production of food, beverage and tobacco products increased from 1 million 191 thousand tonnes to 1 million 385 thousand tonnes.

Of the 133.2 million tonnes of waste processed in waste disposal and recovery facilities, 81.4 million tonnes were disposed of and 51.7 million tonnes were recovered.
81 million tonnes of waste was disposed of in landfill facilities and 450 thousand tonnes of waste was disposed of in incineration facilities.
Energy was recovered by incinerating 3.2 million tonnes of waste in co-incineration plants. While 120 thousand tonnes of waste was recovered in composting facilities, a total of 48.5 million tonnes of metal, plastic, paper, mineral etc. waste was recovered in other recycling facilities…
