In Erzincan (Türkiye’s Eastern Anatolian province), waste forest products are converted into biomass fuel type pellets in a factory that gets its energy from the sun. In the factory where 5 tonnes of production is made per hour, natural wastes are brought to the economy.
A pellet (a type of fuel produced from compressed materials) factory was established by an entrepreneur in Erzincan Organised Industrial Zone in 2022 on an area of 71 thousand 500 square metres, 18 thousand of which is closed.
With the energy obtained from solar panels placed on the roof and garden of the factory, pellet production started from natural forest wastes. Pellet, which is used for heating purposes in recent years and shown among alternative fuels with its environmentally friendly feature, is obtained by drying and grinding natural forest wastes such as sawdust, wood chips, pine tree shells and then compressing them under high pressure.
Production of 5 tonnes per hour…
Making a statement on the subject, entrepreneur İbrahim Kalbur underlined that pellet is more environmentally friendly than coal because it does not release carbon emissions and ash and said, “We supply the raw material from natural forest product wastes such as sawdust, wood chips, pine tree shells in Erzincan and surrounding provinces. We decided to make this investment considering that this environmentally friendly fuel has a future in Türkiye.”
Kalbur informed that pellet production is carried out from many products in the country and that the highest quality pellet is made from pine wood and sawdust.
“We produce pellets in Erzincan with a mixture of 100 percent pine, spruce and fir trees. We have a production capacity of 5 tonnes per hour in the factory. The factory we have established is the largest pellet factory in the region. At the same time, we have brought the largest pellet production facility in this square metre in our country to Erzincan,” Kalbur added…
