Tarakçıoğlu: Compared to the country as a whole, as the Aegean region, we are exporting approximately 3 times the unit price
Nurettin Tarakçıoğlu, Vice Chair of the Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forestry Products Exporters’ Association, stated that in the non-wood forest products sector, they have products such as oregano and laurel that they have a say in world exports.
“In our non-wood forest products sector, compared to Türkiye in general, we export approximately 3 times the unit price as the Aegean region and 67 percent of the country’s overall exports in 2023 was made by our Association,” he said.
Pointing out that the biggest problem they face in the non-wood sector is the problem of pa and adulteration, he explained, “We carry out various studies under the coordination of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for sustainable production with the aim of producing these products with the right methods and increasing the production areas of our products such as laurel, sage, oregano, rosemary. In order to solve the problems faced by our members, we carry out the necessary work and make attempts to the relevant authorities, defend the rights of our members and try to solve their problems. At the same time, we work hand in hand with our farmers to sell our products at their value.”
Stating that within the scope of the 2028 Export Promotion and Marketing Vision, he added, “We started to carry out the Turquality Project for Non-Wood Forestry Products under the coordination of the Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forestry Products Exporters’ Association together with the Mediterranean Furniture, Paper and Forestry Products Exporters’ Association. We started to carry out the ‘Ur-Ge Project for the Development of International Competitiveness in the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Sector'”.
“In order to raise the awareness of oregano producers in Denizli province regarding the PA problem experienced in oregano exports to the European Union, we organised information meetings for the producers in April and May in cooperation with Denizli Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry,” he concluded…
