Gastronomy, culture and business come together; World Pasta Day to take place in Istanbul!

The Turkish Pasta Industrialists’ Association (TMSD) and the Pasta Producers and Industrialists’ Association (MÜSAD), under the umbrella of the International Pasta Organisation (IPO), are taking on a great pride this year: World Pasta Day 2025, which will take place in Istanbul from October 24–26.

This journey, which began in Rome in 1995 at Türkiye’s suggestion, became official in 1997 and has been celebrated in a different country each year since 1998. Following its grand hosting in 2008 and 2013, Türkiye will host the global pasta industry for the third time this year.

Theme: From Tradition to the Future

Born in the fertile lands of Anatolia, durum wheat has become a cornerstone of humanity’s nutritional culture with its ten-thousand-year history. This year’s theme will combine this deep-rooted heritage with a vision for the future, highlighting the healthy, innovative and sustainable aspects of pasta.

Participants include pasta associations from 15 countries, leading producers in the industry, technology providers, academics, world-renowned chefs, gastronomy experts and international media representatives. For three days, Istanbul will not only be a host; it will also be the heartbeat of the gastronomic world.

The Heart of the Pasta World Beats in Istanbul…

Gastronomy, culture and business come together in this unique city where history meets the future.

Istanbul is one of the world’s most special cities, not only for its history but also for its cuisine. This centre where gastronomy and culture meet will once again be on the world stage in 2025. Carrying thousands of years of tradition to the present with its rich culinary heritage, Istanbul also makes it an ideal location for international gatherings thanks to its strategic location.

Having successfully hosted World Pasta Day twice before, the city has already earned the trust of the sector with this experience. Now, opening its doors for the third time, it is preparing to make the heart of the pasta world beat here.

While Istanbul bears the glorious legacy of its past, it continues to host global organizations that shape the future. With this strong identity, World Pasta Day 2025 will bring together the gastronomy, culture and business worlds at the same table.

Türkiye’s production power, export capacity, and gastronomic vision are once again reflected globally at this gathering.

Today, Türkiye is the world’s third-largest pasta producer and second-largest exporter. This success stems not only from our production capacity but also from our investments in modern technologies, innovation and R&D. The re-organization of World Pasta Day 2025 in Istanbul is a source of particular pride for us, as it showcases the progress our sector has made to the world and allows our country to once again host this major event.

We are delighted to be jointly organizing this year’s event under the umbrella of the International Pasta Organisation (IPO) as the Turkish Pasta Industrialists’ Association (TMSD) and the Pasta Producers and Industrialists’ Association (MÜSAD). This strong partnership strengthens the international reputation of the Turkish pasta sector and enhances our country’s visibility in the global food market.

Turkish pasta, with its quality and variety, is confidently preferred on world tables, while new production techniques, healthy product varieties, and environmentally friendly packaging solutions shape future food trends. We want to show the world that pasta is not only a powerful cultural heritage from the past, but also a key component of technological transformation.

This meeting in Istanbul will highlight the innovative aspects of our sector and offer an unforgettable experience through our country’s hospitality and gastronomic culture. We see World Pasta Day 2025 not merely as a celebration; it will be a platform to discuss the future food vision, strengthen international collaborations, and demonstrate that pasta will continue to serve as a bridge between cultures.

Economic Power…

Türkiye is one of the most important pasta players, not only in its own kitchens but also on a global scale. With an annual production capacity of approximately 3 million tonnes, it is the world’s second-largest pasta producer and second-largest exporter. Exporting to 174 countries, the sector provides employment for 50,000 people and plays a strategic role with its 2 billion dollars economic value. This picture demonstrates that the country is not only a producer but also a significant stakeholder in global food security.

Cultural Dimension…

Anatolia is the homeland of durum wheat. This journey, which began in the fertile lands of Karacadağ, has taken shape over thousands of years, transforming into a universal culture that meets on millions of tables today. Pasta is much more than a dish: it is a value that bridges cultures and creates a common language at the table.

Sustainability…

Pasta, which holds a special place among the foods of the future, stands out with its low environmental impact.

It saves water in wheat production and in kitchens.
It is climate-friendly with its low carbon footprint.
Its ability to be prepared with surplus ingredients prevents food waste.
Grains meet half of humanity’s daily energy needs, and pasta is shaping the future as one of the most sustainable examples of this group.
