In the 10-month period (1 September 2022-30 June 2023) of the 2022/2023 hazelnut export season, which started on September 1, 2022; hazelnut exports from Türkiye reached 262 thousand 710 tonnes, and a foreign exchange inflow of 1 billion 581 million 247 thousand US dollars was provided in return.
Sebahattin Arslantürk, Vice Chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB) Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee, stated that exports were made to 119 countries from the country during the 10-month export season. He also said that the top 3 exporting countries are Germany, Italy and France, which are Türkiye’s traditional export markets.
While giving information about hazelnut exports on an annual basis, he emphasized that the hazelnut export made in the first 6 months of 2023 was 132 thousand 427 tonnes and in return, 841 million 832 thousand US dollars of foreign currency inflow was obtained.
Pointing out that in the 10-month period of the hazelnut export season, 102 thousand 988 tonnes of hazelnuts were exported from Trabzon province, he noted 561 million 779 thousand dollars of foreign currency inflow obtained and 39 percent of it was carried out from the province of Trabzon.
“Due to the inflationary pressures that started and continued in the export markets in the past years, the shrinkage in demand inevitably reflected on the export figures and we predict that this situation will continue in the coming period,” he added…
