Şemsi Bayraktar announced that the rate of young people in agriculture has declined!

Şemsi Bayraktar, Chair of the Union of Turkish Agricultural Chambers (TZOB), drew attention to the ageing of farmers engaged in agriculture.
“The rate of young people aged 18-32 in agriculture has dropped to 5 percent. Today, we are managing with Syrians and Afghans, but they are also beginning to return to their countries. Who will feed this country? Our agricultural population is ageing,” he said.

Pointing out that the sector is experiencing migration and ageing, he explained, “Farmers really need morale and motivation. Because their children are leaving for the city. If we cannot provide sufficient support to our producers during this process, migration will increase. Cash support is needed. Work has begun on this. Our producers who have suffered losses are in debt to banks and agricultural credit cooperatives. Producers who cannot earn money from these farms have no chance of paying off their debts.”
