“MUGLA EXCEEDS ITS EXPORT TARGET!”

Organised by Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) and Economy Newspaper, “Aegean Export Meetings – Muğla” event was held in the meeting hall of Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Barış Saylak, who hosted the meeting that brought together the export giants of the Aegean and Muğla producers, thanked the Aegean Exporters’ Associations for supporting the journey of Muğla producers to export and the producers who carried Muğla to the league of export giants.

Jak Eskinazi, Coordinator Chair of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB), made a speech and said that the OECD and the UN FAO announced the report on the 10-year expectations of the agricultural commodity and aquaculture markets.

“According to the report, global food consumption will increase by 1.3 per cent each year. Türkiye will be the leading country in Eastern Europe in fish production. Muğla is one of the provinces that will get the biggest share from this leadership,” Eskinazi said.

“We had set an export target of 1 billion dollars for Muğla. At the end of 2022, it exceeded this target with exports of 1 billion 14 million dollars. It ramped up its exports by 31 per cent. Imports remained at 393 million dollars. The ratio of exports to imports is 258 per cent! Muğla gave a foreign trade surplus of 621 million dollars. When we consider that our country has a foreign trade deficit of 111 billion dollars, you can see how valuable this is,” Eskinazi added…
