“TURKIYE’S FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLE EXPORTS REACH 197.1 MILLION DOLLARS IN JULY”

Ferhat Gürüz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, announced that Türkiye’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports in July reached 197.1 million dollars with a spike of 27 percent compared to the same period last year. Emphasising that the Eastern Mediterranean Region exported 59.9 million dollars with an increase of 10 percent in the same period, Ferhat Gürüz also stated that as the Association, they support the exports of the sector at the level of 30 percent.

“Our preparations for the new season in citrus accelerated”

Noting that the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, which carries out coordinator and secretariat services in Türkiye as the leader of the fresh fruit and vegetable sector, continues its activities to protect and ramp up the quality of the products as well as effective efforts to increase market diversity in the global arena, Gürüz said, “We are preparing for the new season in citrus, the most important product group in fresh fruit and vegetable exports.”

“We exported cherries, morello, peaches and apricots the most in July”

Stating that the Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable sector evaluated 192 thousand 700 tonnes of products in international markets in July, Gürüz reported that they exported cherries, morellos, peaches and apricots the most. “When we examine our exports in July according to product groups, cherry and morello ranked first with a value of 94 million dollars. This was followed by peaches with a value of 24.2 million dollars and apricots with a value of 13.5 million dollars. In the said period, we achieved the highest increases in export volume in oranges, watermelons, other fruits and lemons,” Gürüz added.

“We reached the highest values in Germany, Russia and the Netherlands markets”

Discussing the fresh fruit and vegetable exports in July according to the countries, Gürüz explained, “In the 7th month of the year, Germany, Russia and the Netherlands took the first three places in the markets where we reached the highest values. We exported 61.5 million dollars to Germany, 53.4 million dollars to Russia and 8.5 million dollars to the Netherlands. The countries where we achieved significant increases in export volume in this period were Spain, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Latvia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Austria and the United Kingdom.”
“Sector’s exports in the January-July period of 2023 reached 1 billion 892 million dollars with a hike of 18 percent compared to the same period last year,” Gürüz concluded…
