As you know, one of the first countries that come to mind when it comes to Mediterranean diet is Italy… Italy is famous for its simple but delicious food. The rate of obesity in Italy, which uses olive oil, tomatoes, fresh greens, seafood and pasta in its meals, is far below the world average. Japan, South Korea and Italy are the first three countries where obesity is the least observed. In this case, almost every meal of the day, they eat pasta, pizza, so how these people do not gain weight. Then, contrary to what is believed, doesn’t pasta cause to gain weight?

Low glycemic index…

Researches have shown that pasta does not care about weight consumption. The pasta with low glycemic index leaves most of the starch in the water during boiling. Nutrition experts say that the type of pasta used is closely related to whether or not to gain weight. The pasta prepared with whole wheat flour or durum wheat does not cause you to gain weight when consumed at lunch. Of course, besides the sauces and pasta used, what you consume is also important.

Attention to sauces…

As we said, the pasta doesn’t actually cause to gain weight. The thing that makes you gain weight is the oily sauces used in pastas. If you can’t eat plain pasta, at home you can prepare a tomato sauce using less olive oil. You can use yoghurt or cheese instead of cream on the pasta as well…
