VEYSEL MEMİŞ: WE ACHIEVED 4-DIGIT EXPORT INCREASES IN TUNISIA, CUBA, INDONESIA AND NIGERIA IN THE FIRST QUARTER
Veysel Memiş, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association (AHBİB), announced that they exported 551 million 186 thousand dollars in the first quarter of 2024. Stating that they achieved a 6 percent hike between January-March 2024 compared to the same period of the previous year, Veysel Memiş said, “We achieved the highest values in Iraq, Syria and Algeria markets, while we got 4-digit increases in export volume in Tunisia, Cuba, Indonesia and Nigeria markets.”

Pointing out that while AHBİB is working for the abolition of quota applications for products that are among the main export items, Veysel Memiş added, “On the other hand, we made definitions in prestigious fairs and organised trade delegations and we also participated in the 49th Foodex Japan International Food and Beverage Fair held in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, in March and in addition we successfully held the Ethiopian Buying Delegation Programme in Mersin.”
Highlighting that Mediterranean food exporters held B2B meetings with the representatives of 12 Ethiopian companies in the Ethiopian Buyer Delegation Programme, which was hosted by the Mediterranean Exporters’ Associations (AKİB) and organised by AHBİB on 18 March, Veysel Memiş concluded, “New trade connections were provided in the event attended by Ethiopian companies operating mainly in sesame, pulses and oil seeds sectors.”
