The Muş Plain, one of Türkiye’s important beekeeping centres with its vast lands and rich vegetation, welcomed 507 beekeepers from different provinces this year.

Muş…

Beekeepers who spent the winter in warmer regions and arrived in Türkiye’s eastern Anatolian province of Muş as the weather warmed up have turned to the Muş Plain to make the most of the summer season.

So far, 507 beekeepers from different provinces have arrived at the Muş Plain, which boasts rich vegetation and clean water sources, and have begun to settle there.

Beekeepers, who have placed the hives they loaded onto their vehicles in areas with dense endemic vegetation, are taking care of the bees and hives.

After staying in the plain for a while, the beekeepers will move to the high-altitude plateaus in the region to work towards producing the highest quality honey.

‘We are one of the first stops for migratory beekeeping’

Necattin Gönç, the Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, told an Anatolian Agency (AA) reporter that Muş is an important region in terms of its agricultural and livestock potential.

Gönç also noted that Muş is one of the key provinces contributing to the development of beekeeping, stating, “According to our Beekeeping Registration System data, there are approximately 450 beekeepers and around 60,000 hives in our province. Last year, approximately 550 tonnes of honey were produced.”
