The fresh fruit and vegetable and fruit and vegetable products sectors, which deliver Türkiye’s flavours to all four corners of the world, hiked their exports by 4 percent in 2024 to 6 billion 131 million dollars. The 6 billion dollar threshold in the fruit and vegetable and fruit and vegetable products sector was exceeded for the first time in 2024.
In 2024, the fresh fruit and vegetable sector exported 3 billion 401 million dollars, while the fruit and vegetable products sector contributed 2 billion 728 million dollars to record exports.
Aegean Region receives 22 percent share…
Hayrettin Uçak, Chairperson of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, stated that they realised 1 billion 314 million dollars of the 6 billion 131 million dollars of exports made in Türkiye and that they had a 22 percent share in the country’s overall exports.
Organising a press conference at the Aegean Exporters’ Association (EIB) to evaluate the year 2024, Uçak emphasised that the year 2024 was quite challenging and tiring for the export world.
“However, by overcoming all these difficulties, we, as the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, achieved exports of 1 billion 314 million dollars in 2024. If we examine the product and country details in the exports of our association, the most exported products were pickles with 319 million dollars, dried tomatoes and tomato paste with 170 million dollars, fruit juices with 101 million dollars, cherries with 55 million dollars, tomatoes with 44 million dollars and grapes with 41 million dollars. Products such as pickles, dried tomatoes and chestnuts maintained their importance in the products where our union is the strongest,” Uçak said.
The most exported country is Germany…
Pointing out that the countries to which Türkiye exports the most in the fresh fruit and vegetable and fruit and vegetable products sectors are Germany with 239 million dollars, the USA with 197 million dollars, the UK with 101 million dollars, Russia with 95 million dollars, the Netherlands with 71 million dollars and Italy with 63 million dollars, Uçak added, “The most exported products in Türkiye were fruit juices with 574 million dollars, tangerines with 475 million dollars, pickles with 428 million dollars, tomatoes with 426 million dollars, dried tomatoes and tomato paste group with 377 million dollars, lemon with 357 million dollars.”
