Türkiye wants to get a share from the fruit and vegetable trade, which is expected to reach 768.7 billion dollars in the world in the next 3 years, the country’s 4 forms of fruit and vegetables, fresh, dry, frozen and canned products will be on display at Izmir Interfresh Eurasia Fair between 26-28 September.

Murat Özer, General Manager of Antexpo A.Ş., who stated that the countdown has started for the opening of the Fruit, Vegetables and Products, Food and Food Technologies, Packaging, Logistics and Storage Fair (Interfresh Eurasia), said that the fair works are about to be completed and they are waiting for the representatives of European market chains and buyers.

Stating that more than 20 international chain market representatives, including Lidl, Rewe, Rewe, Fora, Maxima, Elbi, Gomex and X5, which are among the largest chain markets in Europe, have confirmed that they will visit Interfresh Eurasia 2024 Izmir Fair, Özer said, ‘’Lidl and Rewe chain market representatives operating in most countries of Europe are also coming. Rewe’s 13 branches and central management representatives in Europe will attend the Interfresh Eurasia Fair. So far, more than 500 wholesalers and more than 100 brokers/traders from 55 countries will see, get to know and taste the fresh, dried, frozen and canned products of Turkish fresh fruit and vegetables.‘’

Özer also stated that the Interfresh Eurasia fair, which will be attended by the ambassadors and trade attachés of 5 European Union member countries, is very important for Turkish fresh fruit and vegetables to be on display at a time when the negative effects of climate change are discussed.

Pointing out that the negative effects of climate change have started to create problems in production, flavour and quality, Özer added, “Problems arise in many European countries, especially in countries such as Morocco, Tunisia, Spain, Greece and Italy, which are Türkiye’s competitors. The same problems are also being experienced in our country. At a time when the negative effects of climate change are being discussed, Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable products will meet with world buyers.”

Interfresh Euraisa Fair, of which Mersin is a partner city, has met with international buyers in Antalya for 8 years.

Producers and exporters in the Western Mediterranean region emphasize that the Interfresh Eurasia Fair should be held in Antalya province again next year and that Antalya should embrace this fair.
