The situation of the United Arab Emirates after the epidemic, measures taken during the pandemic process, developments in the foreign trade of the two countries, opportunities for the upcoming period and export opportunities evaluated with participation of Dubai Trade Attache Hasan Önal and Ahmet Canlı evaluated during a webinar held by Aegean Exporters’ Associations.

Jak Eskinazi, Head Coordinator of Aegean Exporters’ Associations, said that many countries that have outperformed the peak in the pandemic have begun to ease the restrictions applied to prevent the spread of the outbreak.

Eskinazi said, “The United Arab Emirates gave a good test against the coronavirus outbreak. It is one of the most tested countries and is now gradually undergoing normalization.”

Stating that United Arab Emirates, an important re-export center of the world, is a potential market for all sectors, Eskinazi noted, “Dubai is in the top 5 across the world in the fields of trade, logistics, tourism and finance. Although we have political problems, it is an important logistics center with its strategic location. That’s why it’s one of the most important links in the supply chain. One third of UAE’s imports are sent to different countries via Dubai as re-export. It is also a safe port of the Middle East. So it plays an important role in the trade flow of the region as a financial center. ”

Destination Middle East, Africa, South Asia…

Explaining that UAE was preparing to host Expo 2020, one of the biggest events in the world, which will be held for the first time in the Middle East, continued as follows:

“Expo 2020, which is held every 5 years and will last for 6 months, would have made a high contribution to the country’s economy with 24 million visitors. However, it was postponed to 2021 within the scope of pandemic measures. In order to reduce the effects of Covid-19 on trade, the works continue in a frenetic pace. In this process of digital transformation, we provide new opportunities to our exporters with virtual trade delegations. Within the scope of virtual trade delegations, we are starting virtual business negotiations in the field of food recently. In this way, we will bring our companies together with new buyers in a hinterland extending from the Middle East and Africa to South Asia.”
