Abdurrahman Canlı, Head of the Zonguldak Beekeepers Association (ZAYBİR), stated that 2025 will be the most productive year for honey production in the last 15 years. Canlı noted that in addition to chestnut honey, there will also be intensive flower honey production in the spring, and announced that the expected yield is approximately 1,000 tonnes.

Beekeeping in western Black Sea province of Zonguldak is experiencing its most productive season in recent years in 2025. The prolonged flowering period in the spring and the high nectar production of chestnut trees have increased the expected harvest for both spring and flower honey as well as chestnut honey.
Underlining that producers who had not been able to obtain sufficient yield from their beehives for a long time were able to harvest honey from almost every hive this year, Canlı said, “2025 may have been the most productive year in the last 15 years. In previous years, some regions achieved yields, but there had not been a period when all producers were able to harvest honey. This year, almost everyone was able to harvest honey from their bees.”

“Moreover, it was not just chestnut honey; significant amounts of honey were also produced from acacia, forest rose, fruit and other wildflowers at the beginning of the season. There is as much flower honey as there is chestnut honey,” Canlı added…
