Jak Eskinazi: Our business is manufacturing, our strength is exporting and we have to come up with solutions

The Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) achieved exports worth 1.448 billion dollar in June, with an increase of 10 percent. EIB’s exports for the January-June period of 2025 amounted to 9 billion dollars, while exports for the last 12-month period soared by 2 percent to 18 billion 424 million dollars. Industrial exports soared by 14 percent to 774 million dollars in June, while agricultural exports soared by 3 percent to 560 million dollars.

The Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association achieved the highest spike with an 88 million dollar export, representing a 31 percent.

The Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association generated 142 million dollars in foreign exchange with a 17 percent spike. The Aegean Tobacco Exporters’ Association ramped up its exports by 24 percent to 97 million dollars. The Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association exported 86 million dollars worth of goods.

The Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters’ Association recorded exports of 61 million dollars in June, an increase of 2 percent.

The Aegean Dried Fruit and Products Exporters’ Association achieved exports worth 54 million dollars. The Aegean Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Association ramped up its exports by 24 percent to 30 million dollars.

On the other hand, Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association achieved exports worth 27 million dollars.

Jak Eskinazi, Coordinator Chair of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations, said that the figures for June are the most concrete indication that the exporters have not given up on production and maintaining their presence in foreign markets despite all the difficulties.

“At this point, we must find solutions. A predictable exchange rate policy that allows exporters to calculate costs, special credit mechanisms for labour-intensive sectors, supportive regulations for energy costs and incentives to keep production and capital in Türkiye must be implemented. It must not be forgotten that our business is production and our strength is exports. Embracing this vision is the shared responsibility of us all,” he added…
