Press release…
Stating that dried fruit production in the Aegean Region has shown a great increase in the last 30 years, Mehmet Ali Işık, Chair of the Aegean Dried Fruit and Products Exporters’ Association, said, “Our production of 100 thousand tonnes of seedless raisins has reached 300 thousand tonnes today. 30 thousand tonnes of dried fig production jumped to 90 thousand tonnes. In the last 30 years, with the efforts of our producers, exporters, traders, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Ministry of Trade, universities, research institutes and all elements of our sector, we have exceeded 1 billion dollars in exports today. We thank everyone who contributed to this process. We are taking firm steps towards our export target of 1.1 billion dollars for the end of 2024.”
“We raised our export prices and made our producers smile”
Emphasising that they export 500 thousand tonnes of dried fruits every year from Türkiye, Işık continued his words as follows; “This success is the best example of sustainability. This year, the yields of the products in our field of activity decreased by 25-40 percent. As exporters, we raised our average export prices. In the dried fruit sector, we increased our average export price per kilogram from 2.44 dollars to 2.75 dollars per kilogram and enabled our producers to compensate for their losses in yield and made our producers smile.”
