All Dairy, Meat and Cattle Breeders’ Association (TÜSEDAD) Board of Directors made a written statement regarding the latest developments on milk prices and dairy market .
The statement said:
“The situation of the dairy and meat industry is worrying. We, as dairy producers, cannot see our future. We can no longer afford to bear the increasing costs. Supply chains have come to a breaking point and if it continues like this, we will have difficulties in finding feed raw materials as of March.
If the slaughter of cows continues, consumers will have difficulty in finding meat and milk due to the decrease in milk supply and demand from tourism in the summer months.
As of 8 December, producer milk price has been determined as 4.70 TL/litre. Cost calculations were based on the end of October costs. Since November 1, feed costs have increased by 53 pct. It is not sustainable to cost 1 litre of milk for more than 5.50 TL and sell it for 4.70 TL.
We are calling for urgent action to be taken.”
