The name “Uşak Baklava” was registered as a geographical product unique to Uşak, upon the application of Uşak Chamber of Commerce and Industry UTSO.
After Uşak halva and Uşak bridal dessert (bridal halva, red halva), Uşak Baklava was also registered as a Geographical Indication product.
The name “Uşak Baklava”, which was made only at home until recently and was made with walnuts on each layer and at least 60 – 70 layers, was registered as a geographical product unique to Uşak, upon the application of UTSO.
Again, upon the application of UTSO; Uşak tarhana, Eşme rug, Uşak carpet, bridal dessert, halva and poppy paste were registered as geographical products of Uşak province.
UTSO Chairman of the Board Selim Kandemir said that they are working to protect local products by registering them with geographical indications and to increase their economic value.
Kandemir also stated that they will continue to work as UTSO to ensure that Uşak-specific products are produced and marketed by taking geographical indications.
“We have worked to protect the cultural values of our city. Now Uşak halva and Uşak bridal dessert (bridal halva, red halva) are among the registered products,” Kandemir said.
“After the Uşak tarhana, Eşme rug and the Uşak carpet, which was registered by our chamber proeviously, we initiated the necessary initiatives for the protection and branding of bridal dessert, halva, poppy paste and home baklava last year. We are very happy that these initiatives have resulted in positive results,” he added…
