Press release…

The goal will be achieved with TURQUALITY and URGEs…

Sharing that Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EİB) act with the motto of sustainable agriculture and act in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry of Trade, Aegean Exporters’ Associations Deputy Coordinator and Chair of Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association Birol Celep said, “To increase the export of agricultural products grown in the Aegean Region, we are carrying out two TURQUALITY Projects for South Korea, Japan and China and the other one is for the United States, the world’s largest food importer.”

Expressing that they started the “Food Sustainability URGE (Product development) Project” supported by the Ministry of Trade, which includes 6 food associations in the EİB, Celep said, “With this project, we want to boost the sustainability competencies of our agricultural sectors by clustering. We will add an important link to sustainability in the agricultural sector with the work we will do with 27 companies that are strong in their sectors in food exports.”

Pointing out that Turkiye has exceeded the 1.5 billion dollar threshold for the first time in 2021 with 1 billion 574 million dollars in dried fruit exports, Celep concluded his words as follows; “Our exporters in the Aegean Region made 861 million dollars, which constitutes 55 percent of Turkiye’s dried fruit exports. While seedless raisins (Sultanas) became our leading product with exports of 421 million dollars, we obtained 219 million dollars of foreign currency income from dried figs and 135 million dollars from dried apricots.”
