Muhammet Öztürk: We account for 22 percent of Türkiye’s agrifood exports

Muhammet Öztürk, Coordinating Chairman of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations, stated that they account for 22 percent of the country’s 36 billion dollars agrifood exports.

Muhammet Öztürk, noted that the Aegean Exporters’ Associations generate over 7.5 billion dollars in foreign exchange for Türkiye by distributing the products of Turkish farmers—who produce a wide range of goods from dried fruit to olive oil, from seafood to medicinal and aromatic plants, from fruit and vegetables to tobacco and from processed fruit and vegetable products to cereals, pulses and oilseeds—to all corners of the world.

Pointing out that although the cold weather, hail and frost experienced in March and April 2025, which affected 38 provinces, caused serious damage to Türkiye’s agricultural production, he said, “However, the country managed to maintain a surplus in exports thanks to the successful marketing strategies of agricultural exporters.”

“Agricultural insurance has become of vital importance during this process to minimise the losses suffered by farmers in the event of natural disasters. We must prioritise moving agricultural production under cover to minimise losses,” he added…
