Yusuf Gabay, Chairman of the Board of the Aegean Dried Fruit and Products Exporters’ Association—which accounts for 55 percent of Türkiye’s exports of seedless raisins, dried apricots and dried figs, products in which the country is a world leader in production and export—stated in his remarks that highlighted that farmers play a vital role in food security, the sustainability of agricultural production and exports and the development of the national economy.
Noting that agriculture is one of the sectors of strategic importance in a country’s development, Gabay said, “Farmers, who form the foundation of production, shape not only agricultural products but also the future of societies. Ensuring food supply is made possible thanks to the dedicated efforts of producers.”
Underlining that the Aegean Dried Fruit and Products Exporters’ Association has been working in close collaboration with producers for many years, Gabay added, “We provide various forms of support to our farmers with the aim of raising quality standards and strengthening food safety in the dried fruit sector. As part of this, we supply producers with equipment such as drying trays, UV inspection lamps and biological control traps. Furthermore, through training and awareness-raising activities carried out in collaboration with universities and research institutes, we are guiding producers towards modern and sustainable agricultural practices.”
