Noting that Kayseri has an important place in agriculture and animal husbandry in the country, Saklav said, “Kayseri is a province that is extraordinarily successful in industry and trade. At the same time, it is also located at an important point in agriculture and animal husbandry in Türkiye. Our province ranks 5th with 620 thousand hectares according to TURKSTAT data for the year 2024, especially in terms of cultivated area size. In the last 2 years, we have come from 536 thousand hectares to 620 thousand hectares and we maintain our 5th place. We cultivate all of these cultivated areas. Within the scope of the production amount of grains and other plant crops, our province ranks 5th with 4.9 million tonnes of production. With the production of these crops, all our farmers receive the necessary support. In order to add value to the crops produced by our farmers, we are carrying out projects and supports.”

Stating that 24 crops produced in the province are among the top 10 in the country ranking, Bülent Saklav explained, “Crop diversity also reflects this production. Kayseri has 24 crops in the top 10 in the country ranking. We finished last year in the first place in the country with 4 crops. We finished the first place in the production of pumpkin, cumin, rye and safflower. In addition, we finished second in sunflower and potato, third in sugar beet and fourth in apple.”

“Our crop range continues in this way. Hopefully, we plan to increase these 24 products even more next year. The number of farmers in Kayseri has surged. While we had 28 thousand farmers in 2023, the number of farmers has now reached 32 thousand. In Kayseri, both the registered area and the number of farmers have soared in 2 years. The commitment and communiqué implemented by our ministry in the Farmers Registration System (ÇKS) had an impact on this. Hopefully, we aim to boost the number of farmers even more,” Saklav added…
