Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association Chair of the Board Hayrettin Uçak said that their exports consist of two main sectors.
Hayrettin Uçak said, “One is the fruit and vegetable products sector and the other is the fresh fruit and vegetable sector. 670 million dollars out of the 1 billion 3 million dollars achieved by our Association in 2020 come from fruit and vegetable products and fresh fruits and vegetables accounted for 333 million dollars. Our members have succeeded in exporting fruit and vegetable products to 140 countries and fresh fruits and vegetables to 87 countries.”
Pickles and cherries became the export champion…
Underlining that the export champion product in fruit and vegetable products is pickles, Hayrettin Uçak stated, “While the export of pickled gherkins and cucumbers was 97 million 82 thousand dollars, we earned 90 million 650 thousand dollars of foreign currency income from pickled peppers. The leader of the fresh fruit and vegetable category was cherries with an amount of 54 million 695 thousand dollars. Foreign currency income was 48 million 682 thousand dollars from table grape exports, while tomato exports ranked third with 45 million 347 thousand dollars.”
“While the top three countries in the export of vegetable products were Germany, the USA and the UK, the countries to which we export the most fresh fruits and vegetables are Russia, Germany and Ukraine,” Hayrettin Uçak added…
