Stating that the restriction on bulk and barreled olive oil exports should be lifted after October, Fikret Akova said, “Our exporters need to be able to compete with their competitors. The export ban in bulk oil cost our country 400 million euros in 9 months.”
Fikret Akova, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tariş Olive and Olive Oil Agricultural Sales Cooperatives Union, said they want the restriction on bulk and barreled olive oil exports to be completely lifted after October.
Highlighting that they do not only have problems in bulk oil exports, Akova added, “There is a serious tax of 1.28 euros per kilo imposed by the EU on packaged oil exports. Of course, EU countries do not take this tax from each other. In addition, they do not take tax from Tunisia, they give them quotas. This causes Turkish producers to struggle with unfair competition.”
Akova, who demands the ban on bulk oil to be lifted, emphasized that exporters will be able to see and plan ahead…
