Speaking at the 7th International Poultry Meat Congress, Secretary General of the International Poultry Meat Council Nicolo Cinotti announced that the poultry meat sector is in a healthy growth and has a bright future ahead of it.

“The two most important problems of the sector, which has an economic value of 388 billion dollars in the world, are avian influenza (AI) and antimicrobial resistance,” Cinotti said.
The 7th International Poultry Meat Congress (UBEK-7), organised by the Association of Poultry Meat Producers and Breeders (BESD-BİR) since 2011, was held in Antalya between 16-20 April 2025. More than 870 scientists and industry stakeholders from 33 countries, including agricultural, veterinary, food engineers and medical doctors, attended Türkiye’s largest and only congress with international participation in the sector. The congress hosted 19 sessions and 3 satellite symposiums for three days, with a total of 22 sessions, 76 papers and 59 poster presentations.
Main theme; efficient and effective production!

Making the opening speech of the 7th International Poultry Meat Congress, Congress Chair Professor Dr. Necmettin Ceylan said that poultry meat production is of great importance for people to have a healthy, balanced and sufficient diet. Stating that the poultry meat sector has always been at peace with science and technology at every stage during production and that this is the most fundamental basis of the success and healthy production achieved today, Ceylan continued as follows:
“One of the important goals of all the activities of BESD-BİR, which is realised with this understanding, is to become an international brand. In this direction, we wanted to emphasise the theme of efficient and effective production as the main theme of our congress. White meat production has been making important developments and achieving results for years. Poultry meat sector, as an area where science and technology are intertwined, achieves this job in the best way.”
“The most significant results of productivity increases are seen in the poultry meat sector. Indicators show that greenhouse gas emissions in broilers and turkeys, which are already very low, have decreased significantly compared to the past. This is also a result of efficient production,” Dr. Ceylan added…
