According to data shared by the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TİM), the cereals, pulses, oilseeds and processed products sector, encompassing basic food items such as sunflower oil, chocolate and cocoa products, pasta, biscuits and wafers, confectionery and wheat flour, exported 3.9 billion dollars worth of goods in the first four months of the year.

Although exports decreased by 16.7 percent in terms of quantity compared to the same period last year, the decrease in value remained at 5.2 percent due to the 13.9 percent spike in export unit prices in dollar terms. Sunflower oil, with exports increasing by 24 percent to 452.2 million dollars compared to the same period last year, ranked first; while chocolate and cocoa-based products, with a 14.4 percent decrease to 343.2 million dollars, came in second.

Pasta and sweet biscuits and wafers were other product groups whose exports exceeded 300 million dollars during this period. Exports to Iraq, which totaled 456.6 million dollars, saw a 28.2 percent decrease, resulting in a 15.7 percent decline in the Middle East market.
Iran, with exports reaching 103.6 million dollars in the four-month period, a 37.6 percent spike compared to the previous year, ranked among the top 7 countries in Türkiye’s total cereal sector exports…
