Celal Kadooğlu, Chair of the Southeastern Anatolia Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters Association, stated that the contribution of food manufacturers to the development of the Southeastern economy has soared significantly in recent years.

“The spike in investments in the food industry and the growing trend towards branding in the region have made our sector one of the cornerstones of the Southeastern Anatolia economy,” he said.
“Forty percent of cereal exports to the Middle East come from the Southeastern region”
Highlighting the importance of the international connections established by food exporters in terms of agricultural diplomacy, Kadooğlu explained, “As our Minister of Agriculture and Forestry has also emphasised, Türkiye’s strong communication and brotherhood-based relations with regional and global organisations enable the effective use of agricultural diplomacy. As a result of this vision, the World Food Programme’s desire to see our country as a strategic food stock centre demonstrates the strengthening of international confidence in our country.”
“As the Southeastern Anatolia Region, we are also making strong contributions to this process. In the first five months of 2025, approximately 40 percent of Türkiye’s cereal exports to the Middle East and 36.9 percent of its exports to Africa were carried out from our region. The commercial ties we have established with countries in these regions are strengthening bilateral relations. The stable relations we have established with our neighbours such as Iraq and Syria create a more resilient trade environment against geopolitical fluctuations, while our deepening connections in Africa lay the foundation for a long-term and sustainable food trade model on the continent,” he added…
