Minister Yumaklı: We Will Close the Harvest Season with 140 Million Tonnes of Plant Production
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Yumaklı said, “We will close the harvest season with 140 million tonnes of plant production. This will be an all-time record.”
Speaking to reporters, Minister Yumaklı stated that they have reached the end of the harvest season and that this year has been extremely fruitful and productive for the country’s agriculture, with the best rainfall in the last 66 years.
Pointing out that harvesting is currently underway in different regions of the country and that the barley and wheat harvest is 93 percent complete, he noted, “At the beginning of the harvest season, we said that we expect a very good harvest season and a very good yield this year and that we will almost break all-time records. The figures show that we were right in this expectation. We will close the harvest season with 140 million tonnes of plant production. This will be an all-time record.”
Yumaklı explained that as a country that is the homeland of wheat, they have carried out various studies regarding the cultivation and development of these two strategic products.
“As the Ministry, we continue our work on seed development, as well as harvesting and production methods, in order to overcome all the effects brought about by both climate change and other factors. Our aim is to enhance our yield and production. At this point, our greatest strength is, of course, our producers. I sincerely thank all our producers who have their hands and labour in the soil,” he added…
