New era of ‘visible ingredients’ begins for ketchup and mayonnaise!

The increasing importance of more visible and understandable information about product ingredients in consumers’ purchasing decisions has led food companies to adopt new approaches in product recipes and packaging design. Tat Gıda (Tat Food) responded to this trend with its Tat Premium series of ketchup and mayonnaise. The company emphasized a simpler ingredient structure in its new product family, while making the basic ingredient information visible on the front of the packaging.

The clean label approach focuses on presenting products with simpler and cleaner ingredients, while the front label application allows consumers to access the prominent ingredient information without turning the packaging over. Tat Premium Ketchup, part of Tat Gıda’s new product family, is made from summer tomatoes harvested in season. The six-ingredient recipe contains no preservatives or additives, highlighting the intense tomato flavour. Tat Premium Mayonnaise is presented with an eight-ingredient recipe. The product’s egg and fat content was increased, resulting in a creamier, richer and denser texture.

“We brought transparency to the front of the packaging”

Commenting on the matter, Seçkin Yıldız, Deputy General Manager of Marketing at Tat Gıda, stated that changes in consumer expectations are increasingly taken into account in product development processes. Yıldız explained that Tat Gıda operates with a “from field to table” approach, backed by approximately 60 years of production experience and that they have brought the clean label and front label applications, prominent in international markets, to the ketchup and mayonnaise categories in Türkiye.

“With Tat Premium, we have made our prominent ingredient information visible on the front of the packaging. This allows consumers to access information about the product more easily and directly,” Yıldız added…
