In his statement after the meeting, Celal Kadooğlu, President of the Southeastern Anatolia Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association, pointed out that the second largest import item of Venezuela, which is in an important position for the food sector with a population size approaching 30 million, is cereals:

“We see that the Venezuelan economy, which is growing rapidly with its rich oil reserves, intends to establish permanent co-operations in food supply. The country’s annual import of cereals and flour-pastry products is around 1 billion dollars. Last year, 220 million dollars of this need was purchased from Türkiye and the share of Southeastern Anatolia in the total exports of our sector to this region reached 52.2 per cent.”

Indicating that products such as soya oil, maize and sugar, which have an important place in South American cuisine, stand out in Venezuela’s food imports, Kadooğlu drew attention to Türkiye’s advantages in products such as wheat flour, pasta and sunflower oil.

Highlighting that Türkiye’s share in Venezuela’s pasta imports has approached 75 percent, Kadooğlu said, “The Southeastern Anatolia region, which is the biggest pasta exporter of our country, met almost all of the 91 million dollars of exports to Venezuela last year. We want to reinforce our cooperation with our products such as wheat flour and sunflower oil by taking strength from our recognition in this field.”

“There is a serious production power and diversity in our region; we believe that we can offer opportunities to Venezuelan buyers in pastry products, confectionery, cocoa products and many other sub-sectors. Our commercial expansion processes to different geographies will continue with the new meetings we will hold,” Kadooğlu added…
