According to the statement made by OMU, “The Project for Determination of Botanical and Phytochemical Diversity on Grass Yield, Soil Properties and Live Weight Increase in Lambs and Antihelmintic Effects in Artificial Pastures” carried out by the Faculty of Agriculture, Field Crops Department, Meadow Pasture and Forage Crops Department and supported by TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye), the lambs will be grazed on artificial pastures.

The project coordinator, whose views are included in the statement, OMU Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Field Crops Lecturer Professor Dr. İlknur Ayan stated that the project kicked off 7 months ago and they started to achieve significant results.

Dr. Ayan explained that they aim to increase the live weight with the plants fed to the lambs in the spring period and to determine suitable and profitable mixtures from different plants in artificial pastures by comparing the soil properties and anthelmintic (worm and parasite-reducing) effects.

Indicating that the Black Sea Agricultural Research Institute continues to work on the project on the land of Ambarköprü Experimental Station, Dr. Ayan said, “Thanks to the project, the most suitable conditions for feeding lambs in conditions without irrigation will be determined and it will contribute to reducing the roughage deficit.”
