TURKISH DRIED FRUIT INDUSTRY AIMS ‘RESIDUE FREE PRODUCTION AND EXPORT OF 2 BILLION DOLLARS’

Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association, along with FRUCOM (European Dry Fruits, Nuts, Canned Foods and Similar Products Trade Federation) officials, organized an information seminar at Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) in order to provide briefing to its members about the studies carried out in the EU, food safety, sustainability, organic agriculture, nutrition and communication activities.

50 percent of dried fruit exports to EU countries…

EIB Organic Products and Sustainability Coordinator and Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association Chairperson Mehmet Ali Işık said, “Our Association alone carries out 55 percent of dried fruit exports in Türkiye. We closely follow the legislative changes in the European Union (EU), our most important buyer market, where 50 percent of our industry’s exports are realized. We have been working in close cooperation with FRUCOM, of which we are an observer member, for many years.”

“75 percent of the country’s organic production is made from the Aegean Region. We export 1.6 billion dollars of dried fruit to approximately 170 countries and regions. In the coming period, we have a target of 2 billion dollars in dried fruit exports,” Işık added.

“In order to reach the targeted figures, we are trying to produce the products preferred by the world consumers in accordance with the food codex, to boost the production in accordance with the global demand and to ensure that the image of Turkish dried fruits is left its mark in the world market,” he concluded…
