Ali Çandır: Our pursuit of new markets in the export of cut flowers continues

Antalya Commodity Exchange (ATB) made contacts for the cut flower sector in Japan and South Korea within the scope of the URGE project carried out to support its members to open up to international markets.

Within the scope of the overseas marketing activities organised by Antalya Commodity Exchange within the framework of the ‘Development of Cut Flower Export Project’, a landing was made in Japan and Korea. The delegation headed by ATB Chairman Ali Çandır met with sector representatives in Japan. The delegation received information about the cut flower sector and trade potential in Japan from Yoshihiko Nishio, President of the Japan Flower Trade Association. The delegation held B2B meetings with Japanese importer companies and evaluated cooperation opportunities.

‘Our search for markets continues’

Commenting on the visit, ATB Chairman Ali Çandır emphasised that Antalya is the leader of cut flower production in Türkiye. Stating that they aim to ramp up both the production capacity and export volume of their members, Çandır reminded that they had previously carried out similar activities in Colombia, the United Kingdom and Kenya.

“We aim to strengthen the export infrastructure of our members, to acquire new markets and to be permanent in existing markets with the meetings we hold in important trade centres of the Far East such as Japan and Korea. With the Development of International Competitiveness Projects (URGE), we provide our members with serious gains in both commercial and technical terms.”
