Kars Governor Ziya Polat visited residents producing Kars Organic Honey, one of the province’s geographically indicated products, learned about beekeeping and expressed his wishes for a bountiful honey harvest.

Kars province, home to 118,934 beehives in 591 farms, hosted Governor Ziya Polat, accompanied by Director of Agriculture and Forestry Enver Aydın, met with beekeepers. Polat chatted with the beekeepers for a while and then learned about the hives, bees and honey in the combs.
“Our beekeepers are meticulously preparing. Hive maintenance and bee health checks are conducted regularly. This year, we have also supported our beekeepers with our infrastructure work and training activities. Our goal is not only to boost the yield but also to contribute to the branding of Kars honey,” Governor Polat said.
Kars, with its rich vegetation and high-altitude plateaus, is one of Türkiye’s major honey production centres. Its status as the homeland of the Caucasian bee race, in particular, increases the quality and yield of honey in the region.
