“EXPORTS OF AYDIN PROVINCE SURPASS 1.5 BILLION DOLLARS”

Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association (EZZİB) Chairperson Davut Er said that Aydın province comes first in Turkiye in the production of dried figs, chestnuts, olive oil and celery; in addition to that it ranks the second in strawberry, artichoke, orange, black eyed peas and tangerine production.

Davut Er said, “We are the third largest producer of cotton and table olives. We can clearly say that Aydın is one of the provinces that feeds the country in terms of agriculture. In 2021, Aydın exceeded 1 billion dollars for the first time in its history and reached an export figure of 1 billion 26 million dollars. Considering our exports from different provinces, primarily from Izmir and Istanbul, production made in Aydın province, we think that this region’s exports exceed 1.5 billion dollars. The mining sector made the largest contribution to Aydın’s exports with 200 million dollars. In addition Aydın’s dried fruit exporters brought in 157 million dollars foreign currency to the country.”

“As the olive and olive oil sector, we contributed 30 million dollars to Aydın’s exports. Our 5 companies in the top 10, including our Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association’s first company in table olive exports, consist of our exporters from Aydın region. In 2021, we achieved an olive harvest of 288 thousand tonnes from our 24 million olive trees,” he added…
