Hazelnut producers in Trabzon, Ordu and Giresun provinces are making final preparations in their orchards ahead of the 2025 hazelnut harvest.
Hazelnut producers in the region have begun preparations in their orchards as the harvest season approaches, scheduled for the first week of August along the coast.
Producers are clearing the grass beneath their hazelnut trees and are gradually completing their final preparations.
Authorities are warning against harvesting hazelnuts before they are fully ripe to avoid losses in yield and quality.

Eyyüp Ergan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Trabzon Commodity Exchange (TTB), warned that producers are cleaning the hazelnut trees before the harvest.
Ergan stated that hazelnut harvesting will begin in coastal areas after the first week of August and continued:
“The only message we want to give producers is not to harvest before the hazelnuts are ripe. Harvesting early without hazelnuts results in a yield loss of at least 1 or 2 percent. This 1 percent yield loss translates to extremely high prices. Therefore, our producers will lose money from this.”
Ergan also emphasized that premature harvesting should be avoided and added, “Harvesting hazelnuts when they are fully ripe will improve their yield. They will gain at least 1-2 percent. Our recommendation is not to delay hazelnut ripening or hazelnut harvesting dates.”
