Aegean fresh fruit, vegetable and products exporters set an export target of 1 billion 400 million dollars in the 100th Anniversary of the Republic.
Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association (EYMSİB), which broke export records for 5 years in a row by delivering the flavours produced in the Aegean Region to all over the world and brought in 1 billion 250 million dollars as foreign currency to Türkiye with a hike of 6 percent in 2022, held a “Press Conference” where it came together with the Izmir economy press and announced its 2023 targets.
The press conference was held with the participation of Hayrettin Uçak, Chairperson of the Board of EYMSİB and Board Members.
Hayrettin Uçak, Chairperson of the Board of EYMSİB, said, “The year 2022 was a satisfying year for the fresh fruit, vegetable and fruit and vegetable products sector. A total of 5.5 billion dollars was exported from Türkiye, 3 billion dollars of which was fresh fruit and vegetables and 2.5 billion dollars was fruit and vegetable products and 22 percent of this export, which corresponds to 1 billion 250 million dollars, was realized through our Association. EYMSİB’s exports soared by 6 percent compared to 2021. We were especially pleased with the 12 percent hike in the fruit and vegetable products sector.”
Pickle exports made by EYMSİB exceeded 250 million dollars for the first time…
Explaining that the most exported product in fresh fruit and vegetable products in 2022 was table grapes, Uçak explained, “The grape export of 53 million dollars was followed by tomatoes with 41 million dollars, cherries with 36 million dollars and tangerines with 33 million dollars. The fifth most exported product was chestnut with 29 million dollars.”
“In fruit and vegetable products, pickles were the export champion of 2022, as in 2021. Pickle exports made by the EYMSİB exceeded 250 million dollars for the first time and amounted to 257 million dollars. In the export of fruit and vegetable products, dried tomatoes ranked second with 149 million dollars, followed by dried tomatoes, canned fruits, frozen fruits and canned vegetables,” he added…
