“We established new connections at PLMA’s Fair“
Veysel Memiş, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association (AHBİB), announced that they exported 182.7 million dollars in November.
Stating that they achieved the highest values in Iraq, Syria and Egypt markets in the 11th month of the year, Veysel Memiş said, “We made promotions at the PLMA’s 2024- Private Label Trade Show Fair held between 17-19 November in the USA, one of the target countries to be more effective in distant markets.
Pointing out that the annual import volume of the US in the sector is 37 billion dollars, Veysel Memiş noted, “We provided new trade connections with the US, United Arab Emirates, Canada and Mexico companies operating in the private label market at PLMA’s 2024 held in Chicago.”
Highlighting that they have been working non-stop to bring the quality and taste of Turkish food products together with the kitchens of the world more, Veysel Memiş explained, “At the PLMA’s 2024 Exhibition, where the General Secretariat of the Mediterranean Exporters’ Associations (AKİB) undertook the national participation organisation, cereals, pulses, and pulses, Serdar Yıldızgörer, Member of the Board of Directors of AHBİB, represented the oil seeds and products sector. In addition, AHBİB members held productive consultations on the private label market with Tahir Bora Atatanır, Consul General of Chicago and Ahmet Samet Tekoğlu, Commercial Attaché of Chicago.”

Indicating that buyers from large supermarkets, mass merchandisers, grocery stores, online retailers, wholesalers, discount markets and commodity exchanges participated in the fair where 1,800 companies from 60 countries opened stands this year, he added, “The USA, which is among the target countries in Türkiye’s distant markets strategy, imports 37 billion dollars in cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products annually. PLMA’s 2024 Exhibition, which provides the opportunity to establish direct connections with buyers from large supermarket chains, distributors and e-commerce platforms, offers opportunities to evaluate this great potential.”
“The list of products with high export potential to the US includes sweet biscuits and wafers, food preparations, peanuts and other nuts, chocolate and other food preparations containing cocoa, sugar and chocolate products, animal feed, vegetable oils, pasta, nuts and pulses.
