Veysel Memiş, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association (AHBİB), announced that they exported 1.01 billion dollars between January-June 2024. Stating that they achieved an 8 percent increase in export performance in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year.
Veysel Memiş also reported that they supported the country-wide sector exports of 5.85 billion dollars by 17.2 percent. “In the first half of the year, we exported to 180 countries and ramped up our export performance in 78 countries. We bring the unique flavours of Anatolia to the world tables,” Memiş said.
“We increased our sugar exports 174 times”
Noting that the sector converted 1 million 180 thousand tonnes of products into value in the AHBİB region of responsibility in the January-June period of 2024, Memiş explained, “We obtained the highest foreign currency earnings in pulses, pastry products, sugar and sugar products. In the first half of the year, we exported 265.8 million dollars in pulses, 177.8 million dollars in pastry products and 133.8 million dollars in sugary and sugary products. In the said period, we achieved the highest increases in export volume in sugar with a spike of 17 thousand 395 percent and a value of 19.8 million dollars, wheat and cereals with a rise of 3 thousand 394 percent and a value of 50.6 million dollars and rice with an increase of 2,000 percent and a value of 6.5 million dollars.”
“The most important product in our regional exports between January and June was red lentils. Red lentil, which we reached 205.8 million dollars with an increase of 16 percent, accounted for 21 percent of our regional sector exports,” Memiş added…
